Still Winter here
This was at 3:30 pm. Still snowing!! I have a fellow Minnesotan snowed in here...from Crookston. It's crazy. We live in the Puget Sound convergence zone. I'll be stuck w/o a car tomorrow. Brian will be taking the expedition. I'll have him drop me off at the club on his way to work. Another wasted day.

No News
The Omdahl/Bernard clan in Fargo has no news. It is so boring here! I guess that is just fine though. No excitement since Jim left. Oh, I guess...Bob had a positive checkup with the cardiologist, so that is good news.

Uncle Roger
Just heard it from Sharon that Roger had successful hip replacement surgery. Let's hope for a speedy recovery. Too bad Sharon is not "connected", she could keep us informed instantly.

No Jello Shots Here!
It sounds like you guys are having way too much fun in Fargo!! :) The Storms and the Blubaughs are having a winter fun trip this weekend, too. We are in Lee Vining (near Mammoth) in the Eastern Sierras hanging out. Rick attended two days of ice climbing school (which he loved!) and I hung out with my parents, who drove up to meet us. Today while Rick was climbing we visited Mono Lake to see the Tufas. Tufas are alkaline "corals." Mono Lake has quite a fascinating history...Wikipedia does a nice job if you are interested. My mom practiced using her new SLR camera and took some great shots. After Mono Lake we headed up a few thousand feet to enjoy a snowfall. She took more pictures, the dogs rolled around in the snow and we had a great time. Tomorrow we head home and back to work on Tuesday. I included a picture of Mono Lake and the Tufas. I'm sure Effie will be emailing out the 150 pictures (no joke) she took when she gets back home. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
Jim Undisputed Pinochle "Weiner" of Weekend
Difficult for me to report that Jim has won two of three Pinochle games this weekend. Last night's final battle to prevent a total sweep by Jim was a close one, with Theone clenching the win in a heated final hand. Tonya by the way, was not even close to being in contention.
I look forward to the next visit when I'm no longer a novice who gets persuaded to make foolish decisions by the opposition.

Tonya's team, down one player through end 3, pulled out a nail biting win Saturday afternoon. I am not sure what the final score was. Something like 8 to 7. They now play for the championship of event 2 today at 11. The ice was very uncooperative especially for the Canadian team. We couldn't quite figure out why the same sheet of ice proved more difficult for them. According to the Canadian team, it was the cause of their loss. Ok, that is an inference based on a comment made by Poodle. An endearing term we gave to one of the Canadian team members.
The social highlight of yesterday's draw was the Jello shot break by the two teams on sheet D. One might say they were several sheets to the wind by the end of the draw. Now, tell me, what sport has a break for Jello shots.
Seriously. Curling is an intriguing sport. The more I watch it, the more respect I have for the strategy, team work and athleticism that is required to play.

Keep that six end covered Tonya!
I have my sources in Fargo, and Tonya, what have I told you about keeping the six end covered?
A Tensioned Filled Curling Match
In Fargo this morning, 2/17. Tonya curled last night. Each end was a battle of nerves and strategy. The second failed to get his guard rock past the hog line in end six thus setting up a disappointing and heartbreaking loss for Tonya's team. However, we are not without hope for triumph in the Bonspiel. If Tonya's team wins their 2:30 match today, they play in the final game tomorrow at 11. Stay tuned.

Fargo!
I'm off to Fargo Friday to watch a little curling, and experience a little Winter weather. Tonya says it won't be quite as cold as it has been. Maybe it will snow. I'll post some photographs of the ace curler, Tonya.

debbie does fargo
debbie ain't got nothing on this number which debuted on the ONJ special "Hollywood Nights" prior to the Oscars in 1980! Now this will raise the tempertature in Fargo...
Greetings from Monna
I decided I needed to figure out how to post. Wasn't too dificult. Look like the weather is a hot topic. Ours up here in the corner has mellowed out. Between, the wind, rain and snow and power outages we deserve some mild days. Believe it or not our rainfall is normal. We just got it all in one month. The Maddy's are ready for the next disaster. We now have a generator. I am still selling purses and accessories. I've added shoes also. I seem to have more fun buying. Brian says I am always at the club. If not playing tennis than swimming. Got to stay young. I do have a 30 year old!
Debbie Boone to host Oscars
I'm sure Bill is planning an extra-special Oscar party given that Debbie Boone is hosting the big evening. Isn't she? Did I hear that correctly? Oh, maybe I have that confused with the Grammy's.....
Hmmmm

NY Times Article on Warroad
Hey all,
Check out http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/01/26/travel/escapes/26hockey.html. Nice article on hockey in Warroad. If you watch the slide show you'll also see Uncle Gordon in the last picture.

Hi!
Hi Everyone!
This is a fun idea. Jim always is so creative. I'm jealous.
I feel bad for the Fargo people who are freezing to death. :) Last weekend we went skiing and it was 60 degrees! Here's a video of me flying down the slopes. I look (and sound like) an idiot, but it is kind of fun.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Posting vs. Commenting
I have been reading blogs for awhile now, but have just started creating my own. Tonya asked a question about posting versus commenting. Comments are used to remark on something that has been posted. I think comments should relate to an existing post. Posts should be used when you want to put new information or start a new discussion on the blog.

Hello
It was great to have Jim visit us in sunny Southern California last fall. When are you planning to come west again.
We have had 75 degree weather. Keeps the RiffRaff here!

It's Paradise in Fargo
Want you all to know that it is currently -6 (-19 with the wind chill) and is sunny and beautiful here in Fargo. You know what we say "-20 keeps the riff raff OUT".
Nothing much is going on . Work and curling, work and curling. Looking foward to company on February 16th when Jim arrives!!
Do we have someone in the family hitting the big "30" next month???

-23 degrees
I'm glad my grandparents fled Warroad. I just looked at the temperature there and the low is -23 degrees and a high of 0 (zero) degrees. That is way to cold for me. I guess that is how come there are so many hockey greats from the region, lots of ice!
Post Away
When all else fails, read the directions. I discovered how to add "posters" to the site. If you want to post (not just comment) to the blog or know someone who you think will post, send me an email and I will add you. You will need to have a blogspot account to post. It's easy.
