My adventure

Well it isn't Asia but it will be an adventure just the same. As I am always trying to sell my products and looking for new venues I came across a huge flea market/festival in Packwood, WA. (It is by Mt. Rainier near Ohanapakosh...should sound familiar to Jim & Effie, we used to camp there) The whole town shuts down and vendors line the streets and parking lots. Festival is in its 25th year and gets lots of tourists. I am staying with 2 other gals in the Seasons Motel. Not the Four Seasons I'm sure. Pictures to follow.
I am recovering from a back injury which has my siatic nerve screaming. Very painful first week. So no tennis or golf since beginning of July. I thought I was ready to resume my athletics but I had another flareup. Unloading the dryer of all things.
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my grandchild. 2 more months.

Why we are off to Asia

Lara asked why we are going to Asia. Bill was asked to speak at a conference and judge a design competition in Taipei, Taiwan. So, we decided to use the opportunity to visit a couple other places in Asia. We are going to Chaing Mai Thailand and Langkawi, Malaysia. We leave tomorrow, Aug 30th, and get back on Sept 16. Of course we will have email access so we'll stay in touch.

Here's a late night snack!

Off to Asia

I dont' know if I will have time to post after tonight. We leave for Asia Thursday at 5pm. We arrive in Thailand on Saturday afternoon - their time. I may occasionally post to WarroadRoots, but I think I will start a different blog and update it so this one isn't full of, "here is a picture of us at the blah blah blah". So, the few of you who regularly read this will need to post.

I will take care of September birthdays once we get settled. The only September birthday that I can think of is Monna, 9/21. Anyone else?

In the mean time. Enjoy this. It has nothing to do with anything. It's just nice.

29 Weeks Picture

I thought I would update Warroad Roots with a recent photo of me at 29 weeks. Here is also a picture of dad to be with the new stroller...he had fun putting that together. We also bought a new car this weekend, so we are slowly getting everything crossed off our list.

Friday night in Fargo

Well, guess what we did for excitement tonight? You'd never guess, so I'll just tell you. We all went down to the North Dakota Horse Park to watch (end bet) the ponies. Now, Longacres or Churchill Downs it isn't, but Theone and I had a great time. Bob, not so much. He says he prefers things withe more than 1 horsepower.

We didn't win any big money at $2 bets, but we watched 8 action packed races!! Yeee HAW!! Too bad we didn't bring a camera.

Xanadu Review

Ok, I promise that this will be MY last post on Xanadu and NYC. The show was great fun. If you are in New York this year or whenever, go see it. It's an hour and a half of what Broadway is all about.

Madonna provides the music for my slide show so go buy some of her stuff because I feel a little guilty over the copyright issue. Although, I did buy this song.

Yes, that is James Blunt. He was on our flight to NYC that was diverted to Baltimore for fuel.

And, the Barneys' Warehouse sale was unbelievable.

Here you go.

Boca Meets Xanadu!

We met this fabulous young lady in line for Xanadu at the Helen Hayes Theater. She said she just had to get away from everyone in Boca Raton, so she flew to New York by herself and was seeing every show she possibly could. She had no idea what Xanadu on Broadway was about, and she even had to pay full price for the ticket! She was a wealth of knowledge on the comings and goings on Broadway. Perhaps she was a muse???

Heaven on Wheels!

Well, Xanadu on Broadway was a riot! The performance was sold out, and there were lots of moments on hilarity and high camp! If you know the movie well, which I totally do, it is even more hilarious. The entire show is a homage/spoof of Olivia Newton-John and serious musical theater in general. We had a great time, and it was worth the trip. Grease opened on Broadway last night as well, so lots of ONJ points of reference in Times Square these days! Here are a few pics for reference, and Jim will have to post his review later just so you have an objective opinion. However, if you are in NYC any time soon, I suggest you check it out. 90 minutes of simple, clean, campy fun, and the music is really great!

NYC Update

We arrived in NYC last night after being diverted to Baltimore for fuel. There was a ground stop in NY and the plane didn't have enough fuel to circle for an additional 45 minutes. Not really that bothersome all in all. We met Christine and Carrie from Kansas City for dinner at Perilla. More on that later.

We then went to Don't Tell Mama one of our favorite late night haunts. Anyway, our friend Christine (the other ONJ fan in the group) gave us a preview of what we are seeing tonight. Enjoy. Gutsy broad, that one!

XANADU

We leave tomorrow for New York to see Xanadu on Broadway. ONJ is not in it, but it still is a must see for ONJ FANS. A couple friends of ours from Kansas City, Christine and Carrie, are meeting us there to see the show. While not a true fan of ONJ like Bill and Christine, I do love Broadway so I am sure it will be fun. The reviews have been good.

We are going to start out the weekend dining at Perillo Harold Dieterle's restaurant. He was the winner of Top Chef season one. We are huge fans of that show.

Anyway, here is a taste of the show. We will be sure and write or record a review.

American Heart Association Walk

Bob, Tonya and Cocoa are spending this lovely summer evening walking in the American Heart Association Fund Raising Walk. We only go 5k or about 3.1 miles, but it should still be lots o fun. Maybe we'll send a picture if we take any.

More cute cat photos, this time of Calvin!

Elephant Ears Update

The elephant ears are wonderful again this year. I just throw them in the ground and this is what happens. I think the area in front where they are planted has the perfect soil and sun conditions. I have only watered them three times this season.

Dog Days

Ok, it must be the dog days of summer. It's very hot here. It's also hot here. Not as hot here. And not so hot here. And, pretty nice here.

So, it's kind of a lame post. Flossie is threatening Hawaii and TD4 may become Dean in the Atlantic. Not much else going on.

Here's a little meteor shower show.

Grandma Larson

Today is the anniversary of Dorothy Curtis Wilson Larson's birthday. If I am not mistaken, she would have been 100 years old today. I can't remember if she was born in 1906 or 07. Anyone remember?

She visited Bill and me a couple of times in Georgia. During one of her visits, she and I went and saw Titanic at Phipps Plaza theater. Afterwards, she talked about remembering her parents discussing its sinking in their living room in England. She also told Bill and me about climbing up in a tree at their house in England with a book to escape her brothers. Now, that's real history. During her last visit, she and I fried some Walleye that I had got from Rainy Lake. Her Walleye was always wonderful.

She was a powerful positive force in my life growing up. I spent a lot of time in the summer staying with her and Con, her second husband, in Warroad. I always stayed in the South bedroom that faced the river. That was a great old house and they were great people.

I have so many wonderful memories of her. She was truly one in a million. So, much love to her where ever she is now.

Joe-lean, our office cat, went to the vet today. He is fine except for his weight and he has a minor ear infection.

Totally Hotlanta!

Well, we are scorching here in the ATL! Here is a photo from my dashboard thermometer when I left work today – 107 degrees! Jim found a way to cool off, sort of...The water in the pool is 88 degrees! And of course, a little musical interlude to really heat things up! Supposedly even hotter tomorrow...

I never thought I would get a picture of these two clowns together. Last night I was going to give them bones and they just got in this position. Too good not to take a picture!

Wonder

To all the wonderful women in the world. Why don't you try running it for awhile? I think it would be a better place.

No Poll Right Now

I have a new poll ready to go, but blogger is having some technical problems. As soon as it gets fixed, I will publish a new one. The blog always have to evolve or the readers get bored.

Any suggestion for a poll will be great appreciated.

Low Tech Fun

During our recent "business" trip to Walden, Elizabeth Peterson and I decided to see what a trail ride was like. My horse was named Romeo. He had been kicked out of Girl Scout Camp. He wasn't very fond of little girls, I guess. However, Romeo and I got along just fine.

I haven't been on a horse since high school. I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to go again.

Romeo's ear protectors were to keep bugs off his sensitive ears.

Their new Spa

A view of their Equestrian Center

A lake on the property.

Most of the Grant team went to visit one of our newest clients this past Monday. We returned tonight. The client is Walden in Aurora, Ohio. This is a picture just before dinner last night. Walden is going to be a great client. I think Jim may need to skip a dinner or two. More later.
