The Showroom - Pre-opening
Here's a short video shot by Bill on Sunday prior to the opening of the show.
Las Vegas Update
We are on our way back to ATL tomorrow. The showroom (designed by us) and rugs received positive reviews. They actually wrote orders today. Here are just a couple pictures. One of the showroom entrance and one of one of our rugs on the floor under the bench. You'll be able to buy that one in about 15 Costco California stores in August. I'll post some better pictures later.

The Watch List
Okay. This is the second time in a row that I have not been able to check in online for a flight from Atlanta. In June, when we went to Chicago, I had to see an agent for check in. The agent told me I was on the watch list. However, flying back to Atlanta, I had no problem checking in online. Today, I was trying to check in online and no go. All my anti-administration rantings over the years have finally caught up with me. Most likely, it's entirely random. Or, maybe not. Doesn't the X-Files start this weekend. They are out there.
Oh, Lucinda was her fabulous wild artistic self. More later unless I am in Gitmo! Where I am sure they don't have wireless.

LUCINDA!
My birthday week continues. Tonight we are going to see Lucinda Williams at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I have been waiting months for this. Tomorrow we leave for Las Vegas for the launch of our rug collection. I'll post from there so you can all order a rug! Just kidding, sort of.

Not What You Want...
We arrived home from dinner Tuesday night to find a 20 ft limb sticking out of our kitchen roof. I scrambled up on the roof in the dark to check for damage. We have many flashlights but none work. Anyway, I got a tarp over it and there was no internal damage. Our wonderful handyman, Steve Ward, drove up from Alabama today to fix it. So, all is well. That's the third limb in a year to crash through the roof. You would think we would tire of our tree hugger feelings, but no.
Every Dog Has Its Day...
Henry is today's Daily Puppy. It is exciting to submit something like that and be chosen. He's hard to photograph because he never stands still. He wants to be as close to his humans as possible, which means right at my feet when I'm trying to take his picture. That day I managed to get some good ones and it paid off. That's all the exciting news from the Storm house...

Stephen Colbert is Crappy!
Well, we were sitting here watching The Colbert Report last night after the Planning & Zoning fiasco, when we heard Stephen Colbert list a series of cities which included Canton - followed by "not the crappy one in Georgia, the one in Ohio!" Well, needless to say, we were a little shocked! Of course, I seized the opportunity to try to get Colbert to attend our next HCHA mint julep party so we can raise more money! Check out the thread on The Colbert Report blog and join in the fun! Help us defend the honor and dignity of our crappy little town!

My Birthday Weekend
Thanks for all the birthday greetings. I had a great weekend capped off by a 4 hour planning and zoning meeting today. Saturday, we went to Bachanalia clearly the best restaurant in Atlanta and one of the best in the U.S. Impeccable is The best word to describe it. We spent both Saturday and Sunday in the pool. It's in the 90's here, the water is in the 80's so it was very nice.
Today, there was a public hearing on a proposal to annex 900 acres into the city. The whole project would double the number of residences in the city. Now, it's a 20 year build out, but we already have an inventory of 8,000 available lots to be built upon. Oy Vey! Anyway, I voted against it. The vote was 4 pro 3 against. Well, the developers won't like me, but most of the citizens will. I'll sleep better with that support.
Again, thanks for the birthday greetings. That Tatum sure knows what to wear.

Happy Friday Everyone
I pretty much got nothin' I couldn't even find a good video to post. I'll work on it over the weekend. We are going to see a play tomorrow night. Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Shall we say, it's a bit alternative. The music is good though.
Enjoy the weekend and do something to make some narrow minded people nervous.

Old pictures at the cabin
Sorry, I've been delinquient in checking the blog. Just saw the video & pictures of the cabin. We should get a slide show going of old pictures of every one at the cabin. That would be fun to see in chronological order. I of course was to young to take any pictures on my own, but I'm sure you folks have some?

Grad School is Really Over
So, even though I walked through graduation back in June, I really still had summer quarter left of grad school. Tonight was our last class meeting and I turned everything in. It is official: I'm a master. Of what, I'm not sure... :) We went out to celebrate and I made it through a stein of beer. Hooray!

Wonder
I walked outside Monday and saw this wonderful flower. I planted it last year and it came back. It's a Mallow of some sort. What's strange is that I couldn't remember what it was and then all of the sudden it came to me. Strange how the mind works. We are getting rain again today. It's been stormy with rain almost everyday now. Certainly a gift from the universe. Obama has been in Atlanta for a couple days. Maybe the drought is over in more ways than one.
On another note, check out Hickory Creek Dam blog (link to your right). I added a friends of the dam slide show. It's an incentive to come and visit so you get your picture in the slide show. I know. I know. Big incentive there Jim.

Happy Day After
I hope you had a great 4th of July. We had a small gathering, but we still managed to have a blast. I gave up at about 2 am, but the party was still "a partying."
Several people around town asked us about our annual 4th of July party. We had to say that we weren't having a large one this year. I told Bill that we better have a big one next year or we will lose the local party buzz. So, plan on coming next year. It will be a big one. First one to commit gets the guest room.
The best part of the evening was when this song came on and everyone stopped and sang along. It was a moment to savor. The air was thick after a heavy thunderstorm. It was sublime. A gift from the Cicada King.
We were actually listening to Olivia Newton John's version, but I couldn't find it on youtube. The party was sort of a Lost in Translation party for me anyway. So this version is appropo.

Monna, he's out of control.
Monna thought we had quite a few condiments in our fridge. In fact, her exact words were, "you could open a condiment store." Well, this is why. We are having a few friends over tomorrow, and Bill went to the store for supplies. I guess we didn't have exactly these condiments.
p.s. - watch out for Bertha
