a smile

I had to smile at this little tidbit about the Coast Guard being in North Dakota.

Light is coming, spring is coming.....

There is light at the end of the path, we all need to look towards it.....

Remembering

Mom (Ramona E Christian Wilson) would have been 80 today. She always associated her birth year with the big crash of 1929. I suppose she would understand our current times quite well.

Fargo Update

Hi everyone,.
We are still in West Fargo. Bob was home last night and all was well and even the drain 27 that has been causing us great concern has receded quite substantially. This means our plan is to go home today if possible. We are forecasted for 2-5 inches of heavy snow today with snow and blowing snow tonight. The winds are causing some concern however, if the water in Drain 27 stays below the sandbags we are less worried about that. It will be a long week and we'll be taking it one day at a time, but for now, believe we should be home and settled tonight....

We will keep you posted.

Jaipur Rugs

Just got my Grand Design Jaipur rugs. I love them. I bought the Orange/Beige Coral 3x5 to put in my store dressing room. Great color combination . Also the 2x3 Pear design. Right now it is in the kitchen.
I was impressed with the quality. They are very sturdy with a tight weave. Bound nicely and have a nonskid backing. Great price. How's that for an endorsement?

Moorhead Relatives?

Any news on how the flood is affecting the Moorehead relatives?

Fargo Flood Update

I posted a link (look to your right) for a blog that is keeping current on the flooding in Fargo. There are also other links embedded in the post. If someone encounters a more informative link, let me know and I will post it.

Fargo Update

From last night -

Difficult news in Fargo this afternoon. They have not raised our crest prediction to 41-42 feet with the possibility of 43. The river has now reached the highest level in recorded history so all models are very unpredictable.

We are heading to high ground now. We will be at our friends Sherry and Mike Christl at least for now. Bob and I will each have our cell phones.

We will have computers there as well. Expect to be here at the house tomorrow but will keep everyone updated. It is a scary situation in Fargo. Grandma is none too happy about evacuating and she is being a pill but I guess I can handle it.

Love you all

Growing Family...

Our family is growing! Tatum will be a big sister this fall. Baby #2 is due October 14th. We had the ultrasound this morning and baby looks good, even perhaps had a case of the hiccups.

Any update from Fargo?

It looks downright awful there! I'm so sorry. I hope everyone is safe. Please keep us posted.

Is a World Shift Coming?

I was just remarking to Bill that I think we are seeing the end of capitalism as we know it. Similar to what happened to communism in the late 80's early 90's. And, that what we may end up with is a version of China. He said they own it all anyway. Then, I read this

Fascinating

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!!!

Ok, we have fire warnings in TX, OK, AZ, and CO. There is severe thunderstorm warnings in KS and NB. Tornado watch in OK, KS, NB, SD, and IA. Blizzard warnings in WY, NB, MT, and SD. AND the entire state of ND and almost half the state of MN are under a flood warning!

Fargo Forecast

Things don't look so good in Fargo. You'll see that we had nearly an inch of rain tonight and about the same to follow tomorrow. Then, SNOW of all things. If we come out of this dry, we will be VERY thankful! City projcts the need for 2 million sandbags. Tomorrow we will likely be volunteering at sandbag central and continuing to move treasures upstairs.

Fargo Flood 2009

This picture is from 2006, we're expecting 39.5 feet in about ten days. I figure our house is safe to about 38 feet. Hope the city's dike holds.

Fargo Blizzard - March 10, 2009

This was posted to the Fargo Forum Web site comments:

It's winter in North Dakota
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 42 below!
Oh, how I love North Dakota
When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave North Dakota now,
Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

Sunday Night Devotion - For Bob

Turn it up!

Sunday Morning Devotion

Lucinda was in Atlanta last week. Of course, I had to go see her. I can't wait until her next tour. Perhaps an acquired taste, but well worth it. The woman can rock.

Hey News Junkies

I was listening to the Bob Edwards show tonight. He was interviewing a couple men who have started a new global news service. It's all digital. It sounded pretty fascinating and politically neutral. It's called GlobalPost.com. Check it out. Below are the first couple paragraphs of its mission statement

"GlobalPost is embarking on a bold journey to redefine international news for the digital age. To get there, we are relying on the enduring values of great journalism: integrity, accuracy, independence and powerful storytelling.

GlobalPost follows no political line. We encourage our correspondents to write with a strong voice and to work hard to unearth facts. But we leave opinion on the opinion pages."

I will also put the link over to the right.
