Winter Weather Event '08!

We are getting snow in North Georgia today! The winter weather WARNING has been to extended to Cherokee County, and they are calling for 1-4 inches of snow and sleet! That is the Southern equivalent of two feet! Of course, people are freaking out. I had to join in the madness of it all, so I went to Publix after work to get some milk and bread - winter storm essentials for some reason! Anyway, I made turkey chili and grilled cheese sandwiches. Jim was in Atlanta but made it home on the trechorous roads! I even saw a snow plow - in Canton, Georgia tonight! Here's a photo I took outside Publix with my iPhone of the "blizzard!"

Major drama here in the South. A flake of snow - we close the shcools. All we talked about today at work was the weather event. One would think we might never get out of our houses again.

All I know is that I have a haircut appointment tomorrow and come hell or high snowbank, I will make it there.

Isn't snow wonderful in a place where it is so rare! It is the same here when we get an inch. It also sends people to the mountains so they can "play."

You folks are funny! Winter weather events are quite something in ND too...it just takes a little more to send everyone to the grocery store.

I'm in Edmonton where the clipper has moved East (to ND) and the weather is balmy:)

I'm sad here, and expect some long, hard days on site tomorrow and Friday. Keep on posting so I can maintain my grip on sanity.

...ANOTHER ROUND OF WINTER WEATHER HEADED FOR NORTH GEORGIA...

A STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO ON FRIDAY...SPREADING PRECIPITATION ACROSS GEORGIA FRIDAY NIGHT...WITH THE LOW CENTER TRACKING FROM SOUTH GEORGIA TO THE CAROLINA COAST ON SATURDAY. COOL TEMPERATURES ARE ALREADY IN PLACE ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA...AND EVEN COOLER AIR PUSHING INTO THE AREA FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MAY ALLOW THE PRECIPITATION TO BEGIN AS SNOW OR QUICKLY TRANSITIONING FROM RAIN TO SNOW LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH GEORGIA LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING...MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 85 OR ROUGHLY ALONG A LINE FROM CARROLLTON TO GAINESVILLE. SOME UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH RESPECT TO THE AMOUNT AND LOCATION OF ACCUMULATING SNOW. LATER FORECASTS WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL DETAILS ON EXACTLY HOW MUCH SNOWFALL WILL OCCUR...THOUGH INITIAL INDICATIONS SUGGEST THAT SNOW AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF AN INCH OR TWO ARE POSSIBLE.
